One does wonder whether the failure of the SNP to provide a route to independence might cause that route to independence to be found away from them. I think of all that Salvo and Liberation Scotland are even now doing and how grounded in law their work is. I have made the case to the Green Party in the past to work with the other parties for independence and similar requests to Alba and SNP fall on the same set of deaf ears. But the Scottish individual is sovereign and thus can totally rid government of any not doing what the people want. The day when this is put into practise could come sooner than some think and that can largely be because of the frustration with the SNP to deliver on independence.

I watched their video below but the comments are turned off: ua-cam.com/video/NIwXwqfdheA/v-deo.htmlsi=6Cb5yxPEfd8-p6CC Why not reform the UK rather than a part of it with arbitrary borders? And to really make Welsh language thrive, why not push it more in the rest of the UK? The only way it would make sense as I can see is if YesCymru identified a race of Welsh people and said that Wales was their homeland, but they obviously don't because they say anyone can be welcomed into Wales.

The SNP drank the WEF coolaid. Everything they did in the last years has been against Nationalism, against common sense, against our own culture and against its own voters. I left two years ago and now with Alba. Big thing was their deliberate stonewalling of independence and also promising people that the only way to do it was through the SNP.

I do have one recommendation though. If you want a guaranteed exit from the Union, extend the vote to the English - you would be out withing the first hour of counting. As regards to Kate Forbes, I think she knows what shit show is going to happen for the next couple of years, so she is not daft enough to be the leader at that time. Always be the leader AFTER the thing has collapsed, not the one at the time.

Your comment is a repeat of one that has been made for at least 12 years. The problem is, it's utter bollocks. The English by majority would vote to keep what they perceive as "their country" together. Only the people of a specific nation can vote for that nation's independence.

Mr McAlpine is erudite and makes good points. Mr Jobbins is so out of his depth though. The BLM argument is a bit wayward, seeing as a lot of them are guilty of embezzlement and fraud, but that seems to be the SNP way too now - maybe that is where they learnt it.

There is some logic to what he says in the first 5 minutes. Political parties normally change and regenerate when they are in opposition. However, the issue of the SNP being unable to take that break and renew, is hardly their fault. The opposition parties who could combine to form a government (Labour and Lib Dems), could attract pro independence voters if they would take a more democratic approach to constitutional issues. How can a left leaning, pro independence voter support Labour, who take a hardline Unionist stance in refusing a referendum on Independence. The Labour party could completely neutralise the SNP in a heartbeat by standing with a manifesto commitment to hold an Independence referendum should they be returned to majority government in Westminster. The problem is that Labour are British Nationalists first, and Socialists and Democrats a distance second. The mainstream, non unionist Scottish voter has little choice other than the SNP.

The latter reflecting the lack of hope in the country. The renaming of the David Hume tower just proves the amount of navel gazing the present day politicians appear to run with. Yes Hume , Churchill and Dahl were racists but these were people of their times so why pick over the past instead of looking into the future.

Independence for Scotland is toast for at least 15-20 years (if ever) thanks to the total lack of preparation in the last 17 years. Scotland now has a £ 20 + BILLION budget deficit which has to be funded, no real improvement in both internal and export infrastructures, declining education, health and local services. No coherent 'pathway to Independence' has been articulated to the electorate, only a number of very expensive, high-level, glossy brochures full of word soup and totally lacking credibility - promises of taking 100,000 children out of poverty, FREE bikes and laptops. Many assume Scotland will keep the GBP, but when I've asked the SNP how the currency will transition to a Scottish Pound - NO REPLIES - there is no detail, nor is there for other costly matters such as borders with the RUK, export tariffs, fisheries protection vessels. The list is endless because NOTHING has been done.

Here's a short video talk about the poem, 'Hon' by T.H. Parry-Willams (1887-1975, en.wikipedia.org/wiki/T._H._Parry-Williams_ ) which I refer to at the very end of the interview. 'Hon' is the feminie form of 'this' (as 'gwlad' and 'iaith'- country and language - are feminie words in Welsh). It's a well-known poem in Welsh presicely because of the sentiment that we can't escape from Wales and our need to fight for her and her language: ua-cam.com/video/icX-FuNEk8o/v-deo.html

I'm not expert enough on Scottish politics to know the ins and outs, but I hope the movement can bring itself back together and on track again. The problem with that is. In Scotland there is an unspoken of huge elephannt in the room when it comes to the independence movment. And that is sectarianism. It is the sleeping dragon that is never spoken of but which permiated the whole mind set and where the clear fault lines are drawn. This poisons the palitical pool in Scotland where the undercurrents run deep, darkand treacherous

Wales' demographics are and will continue to be more and more different to Estonia, which is virtually a white ethnostate comprised of two large groups who easily co-exist. This means Estonia avoids an awkward challenge Wales would continue to wrangle with socially and culturally. It's interesting because even raising that point would be condemned by Welsh Nationalists. Oxymoronic. But when you think about that, what culturally and politically distinguishes the Welsh from the English anymore? What do Welsh people feel they would do so differently to increasing immigration, expanding LGBTQ+ rights and a warped, religious conviction to sacrifice prosperity to the God of global climate cooling warming change.

You cannot, cannot use Wales' current GDP, population and or GDP per capita and compare it to other countries. If Wales became independent all of those would fall and fall relatively significantly due to a myriad of reasons including uncertainty, rising taxes, short, medium and long term infrastructure, a separation from the largest trading partner, revocation of agreements and access to English facilities etc. Yes, yes water, water, water. Welsh independence would be the biggest kick up the backside the Englisg government could get to fix their water infrastructure problems once and for all.

The struggle that Health Boards in Wales experience in either keeping young medics in Wales, or attracting any talent from outside of Wales is basically bringing operations to a grinding halt with English Health Boards having to pick up the slack. Not even being a part of Britain is going to make West, Mid and North Wales even more unattractive a proposition.
